About Us

Mission

  1. To bring "Cooperstown to the Concert Hall." These concerts celebrating the National Baseball Hall of Fame provide a unique opportunity to take the best of baseball "on the road" to local communities and their orchestras throughout the USA. The goal is to increase public awareness of the rich history of baseball music, and to foster greater interest in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
  2. To build community relations between local baseball teams, orchestras and/or arts organizations. Rarely have orchestras, arts organizations and baseball had the chance to cooperate on a level that is mutually beneficial. Further, the audience base for a baseball team and an orchestra are substantially different, and thus these concerts present a way in which orchestra and baseball franchises can extend their "fan" base while strengthening a town's sense of community.
  3. To provide educational outreach programs to schools. A key component of The Baseball Music Project will involve "in the school programming" whereby the local orchestra and ball club will work with The Baseball Music Project to present in the school concerts and events in conjunction with the evening concerts. Historically, sports and the arts have often run contrary to one another, especially in public education, where budget cuts have forced schools to cut one or the other. By emphasizing the positive relationship between sports and the arts, these concerts can foster greater understanding for the important place that both sports and arts serve in a community.
